Vancouver
Population: 2.1 million
Built on hilltops which are surrounded by sparkling waters and majestic snow-capped mountains, Vancouver enjoys being recognized as one of the world's most beautiful cities.
Vancouver has both style and substance, and is a culturally rich blend of cosmopolitan urban and rugged outdoor playground. Vancouver celebrates diversity, was one of the first cities with legal gay marriage in Canada (2003), and has fantastic events. From its ethnic neighbourhoods and gay villages to its nine beaches and imposing mountain surround, there is little wonder Vancouver has been voted "Top Gay Leisure Destination in Canada" in 2006 and 2007, and number four internationally, in recent annual surveys.
Directly adjacent to the downtown is Stanley Park, 1000-acres of unspoiled forest, manicured lawns, pristine beaches and panoramic views. Stanley Park is located next to the West End, and it is here you'll find the heart of gay Vancouver.
Check out Davie Street for some queer coffee, a good meal, a new outfit or trinket, or a good time at one of many bars and dance clubs. Vancouver is a premier dining city thanks to a strong ethnic presence and some of the best seafood available - expect to walk away from the table full and very satisfied.
